Welcome to Lasting Legacy

Lasting Legacy Store Closing

It’s with a heavy heart that I write this letter.  After a great many conversations with my family and review of the store’s financials, I have reached the difficult decision to close Lasting Legacy at the end of our lease this June.

As Archiver’s stated at their closing, “The past few years have been difficult.  The economy has changed, the industry has changed, and our customer needs have changed.”  Lasting Legacy has faced those same difficulties and changes in the scrapbooking industry.  Many factors, including 1. the spread of paper crafting materials into a multitude of big chains and online venues, 2. the era of ‘use your stash’ without infusing new products and simplifying scrapbooks, and 3. the changes in technology from print to digital along with the photo capabilities of I-Phones/I-Pads, have taken their toll on independent retailers.  In today’s poor economy, people also have to be frugal with their income, and crafts are unfortunately a luxury.  With entire months of matching coupons, adding new products, hiring new class instructors, offering new scrapbooking and engraving services, reducing overheads where possible, and moving to a much higher traffic area, sales have still continued to decline and the cost of keeping the business open is just too great.

When the store opens on Monday, April 14th, 2014, all paper racks, fixtures, storage, and equipment will be marked for sale (with pick-up scheduled for a later date).  In-store merchandise will be 15% off and will continue to be reduced as the June 30th closing date approaches.  No new products will be arriving, however, special orders can be placed through Saturday, May 3rd. (Sorry, no discounts will apply to special orders.)  Classes will be offered throughout the month of April as listed on our website.  The work area and album engraving services will continue to be offered until the store closes.

After 13 years in business, it’s hard to say goodbye.  I’ll miss you, the customers, most of all.  I have met so many wonderful people through this experience while enjoying my love of scrapbooking. I’ve laughed, oohed & aahed, and even cried as you’ve shared your stacks of photos and stories with me.  I’ve truly loved getting to know you and your families through your many projects.  I hope you’ll continue to cherish all those precious moments with your loved ones and continue to record your family’s legacy for future generations to enjoy.
